Professional/Academic Experience

After three years of teaching Ceramics at the State University of New York at Oswego, IN Oswego, NY. Dan Rioz decided to relocate back to Colorado to be closer to family and sunshine. He currently teaches Foundations courses, one of which is Drawing I, but can often be found assisting in the Ceramics department. On other occasions Dan can be seen supporting others with critiques as well as helping students with non-traditional materials and practices.

Research/Areas of Interest

His work currently employs the concept of sensuality of form, color, light and surface. Whether layering automotive paint on ceramic sculptural forms with a show car quality finish, or composing car culture rich photographs, Dan embraces a multitude of materials as well as concepts and is always eager to see where they end up.  Rioz is currently showing nationally.
